Most of the production centers stay in Switzerland, with the rest spread over countries like France, Italy, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia and China. Swatch group likewise owns brand such as Omega, Longines, Rado, and a lot more.
Georges Schaeren founded Mido in 1918. The talented Swiss watchmaker opened production in Bienne, Switzerland to create technical watches with an enduring aesthetic. Schaeren debuted his first line to critical acclaim. The line included exquisite ladies wristwatches featuring shaped enameled cases in various colors with modern straps. After this initial success, Mido shifted his focus toward technical innovation and launched the ground-breaking Multiford collection in 1934. The watches in this collection had it all: they were shock-resistant, water-resistant, and anti-magnetic. They were also the first Mido timepieces to feature a self-winding automatic movement.
Less than a year later, Mido introduced another groundbreaking innovation. Mido's unbreakable mainspring was the first available on the market, which solidified the brand as a purveyor of innovative wristwatches. Mido was later recognized for producing the world’s smallest ladies’ watch in 1967. It continued its streak of innovation in 1996 with the introduction of the Worldtimer, the first analog watch to display a proper time zone from anywhere in the world. Today, Mido continues to be a leader in engineering and innovation, pushing the boundaries of technology and design.
Built to the highest standards of quality, Mido’s technical timepieces continue to offer unparalleled reliability. Caliber 80 engines offer up to 80 hours of extended battery life, while also maintaining a refined aesthetic with unique materials like anthracite, 18-karat rose gold, and mother of pearl. Every Mido wristwatch features COSC-certified chronometers and anti-magnetic silicon balance-springs for reinforced accuracy. Meanwhile, Mido's photo-luminescent technology, SuperLuminova, illuminates bezels and dial-hands even in the depths of the ocean.
Mido’s range of men’s and ladies’ high-performing timepieces includes heritage Multifort collections with chronograph functions, as well as the sportier Ocean Star series, which is water-resistant up to 60 bars (600 meters). The Baroncelli series draws inspiration from the architecture of classical monuments, using clean lines to create a timeless appeal. This sophisticated aesthetic will elevate any look. Modern watches in the Commander line continue to impress with a certified chronometer providing superior accuracy time after time.
